Day 1: Saturday, May 22 — Arrival in Lima

Hotel: Sonesta El Olivar

  • Welcome to Peru! Upon your arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel
  • The remainder of the day is yours to relax after your international flight and prepare for the adventures ahead

Day 2: Sunday, May 23 — Discover Lima

Hotel: Sonesta El Olivar

After a delicious buffet breakfast, we begin our guided tour of Lima, Peru's fascinating capital city.

Highlights include:

  • Miraflores District & the Pacific coastline
  • Love Park (Parque del Amor)
  • Huaca Pucllana Archaeological Site
  • Historic Center of Lima (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
  • Casa Aliaga (oldest colonial residence in the Americas, built in 1535)
  • Torre Tagle Palace, Plaza San Martín & Plaza Mayor
  • Presidential Palace, Cathedral of Lima & Archbishop's Palace
  • San Francisco Church and its famous Catacombs
  • Traditional Peruvian lunch included
  • Afternoon visit to the renowned Larco Museum, home to more than 45,000 pre-Columbian ceramic pieces, jewelry, textiles, and artifacts
  • Return to the hotel for an evening of rest

Day 3: Monday, May 24 — Lima • Cusco • Sacred Valley

Hotel: Sonesta Posada del Inca Yucay

  • Early morning transfer to the airport for our one-hour flight to Cusco
  • Begin exploring the ancient capital of the Inca Empire
  • To acclimate comfortably to the altitude, we travel to the Sacred Valley (lower elevation) rather than staying overnight in Cusco

Along the way, visit three remarkable archaeological sites:

  • Sacsayhuamán
  • Qenqo
  • Tambomachay
  • Continue to the charming village of Yucay
  • Lunch at the hotel
  • Afternoon free to relax and acclimate

Day 4: Tuesday, May 25 — Sacred Valley of the Incas

Hotel: Sonesta Posada del Inca Yucay

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Highlights include:

  • Pisaq Archaeological Complex
  • Ollantaytambo Fortress
  • Lunch at one of the valley's traditional restaurants
  • Return to Yucay in the late afternoon

Day 5: Wednesday, May 26 — Machu Picchu

Hotel: Sonesta Posada del Inca Yucay

Today is one of the highlights of our journey!

  • Early morning travel to Ollantaytambo Train Station to board our scenic train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo)
  • Shuttle bus to the legendary archaeological sanctuary of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World
  • Comprehensive guided tour lasting approximately 3½ hours, with plenty of time for photographs while learning about the history, engineering, and mysteries of this extraordinary Inca citadel
  • Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch
  • Afternoon train back to Ollantaytambo, then private transportation to Yucay

Day 6: Thursday, May 27 — Maras • Moray • Chinchero • Cusco

Hotel: Sonesta Hotel Cusco

After breakfast, check out and continue toward Cusco, visiting three fascinating destinations along the way.

  • Maras: Discover the spectacular ancient salt terraces, harvested continuously since Inca times
  • Moray: Explore the remarkable circular agricultural terraces believed to have served as an Inca agricultural research center
  • Chinchero: After lunch, meet local Andean weavers in traditional clothing who demonstrate centuries-old weaving techniques, natural dyeing methods, and the process of transforming alpaca fiber into beautiful textiles

Guests may purchase authentic handmade products including sweaters, scarves, ponchos, shawls, gloves, and other traditional textiles. Continue to Cusco and check in.

Day 7: Friday, May 28 — Cusco Walking Tour & Farewell Dinner

Hotel: Sonesta Hotel Cusco

After breakfast, explore the beautiful city of Cusco on foot.

Highlights include:

  • Coricancha (Temple of the Sun)
  • Ancient Inca streets and stone walls
  • Plaza de Armas and colonial architecture
  • ChocoMuseo — learn about Peru's cacao-growing regions and the chocolate-making process
  • Lunch included
  • Afternoon free for shopping or exploring the historic center
  • Farewell Dinner: Celebrate our journey with traditional Peruvian cuisine and a spectacular folkloric dance performance representing the diverse cultures of the Peruvian Andes

Day 8: Saturday, May 29 — Departure

  • After breakfast, check out of the hotel
  • Depending on the flight schedule, time for last-minute shopping before transferring to the airport for our flight back to Lima and international departures
