Celebrate life with a traditional Day of the Dead Fiesta!

ASLI Spanish Language Institute celebrates the Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), with an all-inclusive package from Oct. 26 to Nov. 2, 2014. Come and experience this enchanting time and place in Mexico. The country’s extraordinary Day of the Dead has been recognized by UNESCO since 1995 as part of the world’s intangible heritage. Come celebrate with us this fall in Cuernavaca/Ocotepec. Tuition – $800 per person

Schedule

Day 1

Coming into Mexico City terminal, shuttle to Cuernavaca (on your own) – $15. You can order a school car and driver to pick you up directly at the terminal – $90 for one or two people arriving together. Welcome dinner with your Mexican family. Practice your conversation!

Day 2

9 p.m. –  Breakfast with your Mexican family 11 p.m. – Visit the Brady House, Casa de la Torre, with its eclectic art collection housed in the 16th-century former home of the bishop. 3 to 5 p.m. – Main meal with your Mexican family

. 6 p.m. – Visit the Day of the Dead activities in Ocotepec, a nearby village, accompanied by the school and your Mexican family.  The family altars are unforgettable. 9 p.m. –  Merienda (typical Day of the Dead bread with our Mexican hot chocolate).

Day 3

8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family 9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Class Noon – 2 p.m. – Visit to the cemetery 2 p.m. – Visit Jardín Borda to view local Day of the Dead exhibitions, altars, and Catrinas, the elegant skeleton ladies.  Bring your lunch. 7 p.m. – Dinner with your Mexican family

Day 4

8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family 9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes Noon to 3 p.m. – Visit Cortés Palace, home of the Diego Rivera murals. 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Main meal with your Mexican family 5 p.m. – Salsa Class. (Part 1) Learn the moves with one of the best teachers in the city. 7 p.m. – Merienda at India Bonita

Day 5

8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family 9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes Noon: Departure to Tepoztlán We will travel to this charming town in an air conditioned van. Your family will send a packed lunch.  One of the main attractions of this mountain village is the market. Tepoztlán is also known as a mystical center, and its surrounding mountains are full of magnetic qualities.  Climb the Tepozteco, if you choose to visit the mountain top temple.  Your family will pack a lunch. 6 p.m. – Return to Cuernavaca, dinner with your family.

Day 6

8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family 9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes Noon: Taxco A full afternoon in Taxco, Mexico’s silver capital, which is nestled in the mountains in a charming colonial setting.  The town’s winding cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses with red tile roofs, and its impressive Santa Prisca Church all combine to make Taxco a lovely and picturesque town.  There is an amazing selection of silver here.  Your host family will pack you a lunch.

Day 7:

8 p.m.  Breakfast with your Mexican family 9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes Noon  – Cooking class where you will eat what you have prepared
. 5 p.m. – Salsa Class 7 p.m. – Dinner with your Mexican family

Day 8

Return to Mexico City from Cuernavaca (by Pullman de Morelos Shuttle $15) You can order a school car and driver to pick you up from your Mexican family directly to the airport– $90 for one or two people departing together. ¡Hasta La Vista! –
