Our Winter Getaway is a seven-day program with five-day conversational and structure Spanish classes. Arrive Sunday depart Sunday, held this year from Feb. 7 to Feb. 14.

Choice of single room and exclusive bathroom or shared room and bathroom with host family for 7 nights, all meals included. Five days of three-hour Spanish classes, all excursions, all in- and around-town transport in secure private van, transport to and from school by host families. Spa treatments and massage are optional at added cost (costs of these will be sent with registration confirmation).

Tuition – $850 per person

Includes: Spanish classes; textbook; accommodation; 3 meals daily; transportation to and from school.

Outings: Downtown Cuernavaca; Tepoztlán; Jardín Borda Cathedral; Cortés Palace and Diego Rivera mural; Robert Brady Museum; Taxco, cooking class; salsa class; lunch at La India Bonita. (Historical site). Jardines México.

Does not include: Laundry; airfare; transportation from and to the airport; pickup in D.F. 

Schedule

Day 1 – Sunday

Coming into the Mexico City Airport terminal, Pullman de Morelos shuttle to Cuernavaca (on your own) – $15. Your Mexican host family will pick you up at the bus station Pullman de Morelos La Selva in Cuernavaca.

Or you can order a school car and driver to pick you up directly at the Mexico City Airport terminal– $90 for one or two people arriving together.

Day 2: Monday

8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family

9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes at your appropriate level

Noon to 1 p.m. – The Story of Chocolate – From the Aztecs to Our Table.

1 to 3 p.m. – Cooking class to prepare a Mexican specialty, which you will enjoy as lunch.

4:30 to 5:30 p.m. – Salsa Class

7 p.m. – Merienda

 

Day 3 Tuesday

9 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican Family

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Historic Places and Contrasts of Cuernavaca.

Your lunch will be at the restaurant La India Bonita, former home of U.S. Ambassador Dwight Morrow, whose daughter Anne met aviator Charles Lindbergh in Cuernavaca.

Visit Cortés Palace, built by Hernán Cortés shortly after the Conquest and including the famous mural of Diego Rivera.It’s the best Mexican history lesson you will ever have!

7 p.m. – Merienda with host family  

Day 4 Wednesday

8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family
9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes
12:00pm– Departure to Tepoztlán. We will travel to this charming town in an air conditioned van. One of the main attractions of this mountain village is the market. is also known as a mystical center, and its surrounding mountains are full of magnetic qualities.Climb the Tepozteco, if you choose to visit the mountain top temple.  Your family will pack a lunch.

Day 5 – Thursday

8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican famil
9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes
12:30 – 3 p.m Visit the Casa de la Torre, the Robert Brady Museum, a private home with an amazing art collection.
See an original Frida Kahlo and many major Mexican artists.
Start in the Centro Histórico by visiting the 16th century Cathedral and its impressive complex. Next is the famous Jardín Borda, built by a silver magnate, and now used as exhibition and performance space with a large botanical garden. It was used by the Emperor Maximiliano as his Cuernavaca retreat.
3 p.m. – Main meal of the day with your Mexican family
5 p.m. – Salsa class
7 p.m. – A Margarita or glass of wine at Las Mañanitas

Day 6 – Friday
8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family
9 a.m. to noon – Spanish Classes
12:30 – Jardines México
3 p.m. – Main meal with your Mexican family
7 p.m. – Merienda

 

Day 7 – Saturday
8 a.m. – Breakfast with your Mexican family
9:30 am. (click) Taxco A full afternoon in Mexico’s silver capital, which is nestled in the mountains in a charming colonial setting. The town’s winding cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses with red tile roofs, and its impressive Santa Prisca Church all combine to make Taxco a lovely and picturesque town. There is an amazing selection of silver here. Your host family will pack you´r a lunch.
7 p.m. – Main meal with your Mexican family

Day 8
Return to Mexico City from Cuernavaca by Pullman de Morelos Shuttle $15.
Or you can order a school car and driver to pick you up from your Mexican family directly to the airport– $90 for one or two people departing together.
